Peer Review Process
METUSD aims to select the high quality academic work for publication via the review process. It is an objective process at the heart of competitive academic publishing and is carried out on all reputable scientific journals. Thus, our referees play a key role in maintaining the high standards and all manuscripts are peer reviewed following the procedure outlined below.
Special issues and/or conference proceedings may have different peer review procedures involving, for example, Guest Editors, conference organisers or scientific committees. Authors contributing to these projects may receive full details of the peer review process on request from the editorial office.
Initial manuscript evaluation
The Editor first evaluates all manuscripts. Manuscripts are never accepted by editor without a refree report, at this early stage. Manuscripts which fall outside the aims and scope of the journal are rejected at this initial point . Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to at least 2 experts for review.
Authors of manuscripts rejected at this stage will be informed within 2 weeks of receipt.
This journal employs; double blind reviewing, where both the referee and author remain anonymous throughout the process.
Referees are matched to the paper according to their expertise. Our database is constantly being updated.
Referee reports
Referees are asked to evaluate the manuscript's:
- Originality
- Methodological soundness
- Respect to ethical guidelines
- Significance of the contribution to the literature
- Presentation of results in a clear way and support for the conclusions
- Appropriate referencing of previous relevant work
Referees are not expected to correct or edit manuscripts. Language correction is not part of the peer review process.
Typically a manuscript will be reviewed within 6-12 months. Should the referees' reports contradict one another or a report is unnecessarily delayed a further expert opinion will be sought. Revised manuscripts are usually returned to the initial referees within 2 weeks. Referees may request more than one revision of a manuscript.
Final report
A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the corresponding author along with any recommendations made by the referees, and may include verbatim comments made by the referees.
Editor's Decision is final
Referees advise the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article.
Publication Frequency
METU Studies in Development is published semi-annually, in June and December.
Delayed Open Access
The contents of this journal will be available in an open access format 7 month(s) after an issue is published.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
About METU Studies In Development
METU Studies in Development is a semi-annual, refereed journal, soliciting research articles in the field of economics, business administration, international relations, political science, public administration and related fields. METUSD is published since 1974, and it is the oldest journal in Turkey in the area of economics and administrative sicences. It is indexed in the Middle East Journal, UNESCO's World List of Social Science Periodicals. Abstracts of the articles appear in the Index of Economic Articles in Journals and Collective Volumes and EconLit on CD-ROM and on line through AEA. The abstracts can also be approached through WebEc-The List of Economics Journals. Full-texts of the journal are available through EBSCO-Host.
